FAQs for the Best Sewing Machine For Advanced Sewers in 2021

Shall I use a standard sewing machine for quilting?

You can simply do quilting with a circular stitch feature and free-motion foot; if you have these functions on your computer, you can use them for quilting. You can purchase a regular daring foot to quilt if this feature is missing in your chosen models.

What's the best sewing machine thread?

A multi-purpose polyester thread is a readily available and very popular thread. The color choices are different. It is appropriate not only for portable sewing machine stitching but also for hand stitching. It is a sturdy and long-lasting condition, making it suitable for tissue and for the majority of textiles.

What is the use of different presser feet?

Different presser feet give your machine different functions so you can sew more than just a straight stitch. They will also allow you to make better use of your time and produce your desired results.

Each pressing foot has been specially designed for making life easier for you if you are quilting, stitching in satin, or sewing on the fringes.

Often the stitches are left out of my sewing machine. What is the reason for this?

It is time for you to change your needle if you see the stitch is skipped randomly. The issue was a bent needle if the stings are natural.

If it doesn't then, though, the need and the thread may be too tuggy on the fabric, or a pin hitting the needle and the other one. Bring the lightweight sewing machine to a service station or have it fixed by a specialist.

How regular should I clean or get my sewing machine serviced?

How much you use it and the type of material or work is done on the computer depends on the response. Lint can be created in the system while working on cotton fabrics and threads.

The machinery works smoothly once in a few months. Even when the beginner's sewing machine is stored or not running for some time, maintenance is needed, as lubricants can be desiccated.

How to Insert a Sewing Machine Needle?

Video Transcript:

This video is brought to you by satellite a home sewing machine needle boys have a flat side to the shank so it’s easy to insert correctly in your sewing machine however an industrial needle usually has a round shank and it is not so easy to figure out how to install those needles we’re going to show you how in this video first we need to identify some features of the needle here’s a close-up of a needle and you can see the scarf here as we roll it around you see the long groove that extends all the way from the eye up to the top portion or shaft of the needle the thread will always run along the long groove side of the needle.

And be inserted from that side into the eye of the needle roll it around some more and you can see that deep scarf that scarf will always point towards the hook assembly of the sewing machine here you can see the deep scarf on the right side of the ultra feed lsz sewing machine we’re going to remove the retaining ring and the hook assembly with bobbin case where we’re going to reinsert the hook in the ultra feed sewing machine and here as we roll the balance wheel around you can see that hook oscillate from side to side you notice the needle is on the left side of the hook point so if you own a satellite ultra feed sewing machine the scarf of the needle will always face to the right let’s sink this in a little bit more let’s look at the satellite 111 sewing machine.

We’re going to remove the needle plate and the feed dog here so we can get a closer look at it here the same principle applies the scarf will always face the hook you can see the scarf here it’s on the inside throw to the sewing machine or facing the right side the same is the ultra feed machine and here you can see the hook brush by the scarf on that needle so again the scarf must face the point of the hook assembly and on this air, at 111 sewing machine, it must face to the right same as the ultrafeed machine we’re now going to look at a different sewing machine.

This is a satellite professional sewing machine this is the long arm version but we want to look at this machine because the scarf is in a totally different position because the rotary hook assembly is to the rear on this machine so if you’d look at the needle close-up you’ll notice the scarf is facing to the rear on the satellite professional sewing machines let’s take a look at one more sewing machine this is a satellite big and tall sewing machine on this machine the bobbin is loaded from the top so we slide the plate over and we’re going to remove the threat from the eye of the needle here enroll the balance wheel by hand so the hook assembly rotates around you can see the needle coming down and the hook is rotating now it just brushed by the needle so since the hook is on the right side the scarf.

Must also be facing towards the right you can see it here in this video here so wherever the hook is an all sewing machine needles have a scarf that’s the direction the scarf should face on the direct opposite side of the scarf is the long groove and the thread should come down that long groove and into the eye of the needle from that side now you should know how to insert a needle properly in your sewing machine and also how to thread the needle to replace a needle.

Simply loosen the needle set screw to pull the needle downwards and off reinsert a new needle and push upwards until the top of the needle is against the stop turn the needle appropriately so the scarf is on the correct side if you’re using a home sewing machine needle there’ll be a flat sight on it so this is not necessary and retighten the needle set screw that’s all there is to it it’s your loyal patronage to a satellite that makes these free videos possible thanks for your support.

How to load a bobbin with thread in a sewing machine?

Video Transcript:

Hello I’m Anika from masters oh and welcome to my sewing for beginners series in this video I’m going to be showing you how to load a bobbin or position your bobbin into your sewing machine we’re going to be looking at two different types of sewing machines a front-loading bobbin like you see here but also a drop-in bobbin and I’ll share with you both methods for this video you’re going to need to have wound your bobbin so if you haven’t done that then you can check out my other video that shows you how to wind a bobbin here let’s begin by looking at a front-loading bobbin.

Now with a front-loading bobbin, you’re going to need to have a bobbin and also a bobbins case hold your bobbin was a thread on in your right hand make sure that the thread on the bobbin is going in the clockwise direction towards the right hold the bobbin case in your left hand take the bobbin and position it into the bobbin case with the thread still going in the clockwise direction towards the right take a look at your bobbin case you should find that there’s a little slit or groove.

That you can feed the thread into and at the top here there’s a gap we’re aiming for the thread to go into the slit along the edge of this little overlay of metal ending up in the gap there so we’re actually going to be pulling the thread back trying to clockwise just like so once the thread is in the top part of the bobbin there you want to make sure that as you pull on that thread the bobbin turns clockwise hold the bobbin between your finger and thumb to stop the bobbin from falling out of the bobbin case open the front section of your machine so that you can insert the bobbin you may need to remove a front section of the machine to allow you to access this make sure that your sewing machine is turned off the needle and presser foot should be raised then take the little latch on the front of the bobbin and hold onto this with one of your hands you are going to insert the bobbin into the machine you’ve got a little arm on the front the bobbin case here this needs to go pretty much upright and if you get level eye level with this part of your machine you should be able to see that.

There’s a groove for this to be positioned in to take your time when doing this and don’t worry if you have to try again line it up so that the arm slots into the correct place inside the Machine and you should hear a little click when it all goes into a place you also should not be able to move the bobbin once it’s in the correct position on my machine I have a little cutter on the side here that I can use to cut my thread however you are welcome to leave your thread like so or trim it slightly close up the case once the bobbin has been inserted you may wish to collect the bobbin thread and bring it above the metal plate here to do that hold on to your needle thread.

Use the handwheel on the side of the machine and turn the wheel toward you so that the needle goes all the way down and all the way back up one full rotation then you can give this thread a little bit of a tug and you should start to see the bobbins try to peer you may need to get a pair scissors or a little pen so that you can get hold of that but there you have it that is my bobbin thread I now have my bobbin thread and my needle thread on the top ready to begin sewing this machine uses a drop-in bobbin case instead meaning is visible from the top sewing machine.

The bed opens the little case here this machine’s got a black button I need to push that to the right to remove the plastic case I take the bobbin that has been whined for this machine I need to position the thread so that it is going anti-clockwise towards the left I can then slot the bobbin into space in the machine there is a little groove at the front of the bobbin casing here and an arrow pointing towards the left on this machine the thread needs to travel into this groove.

And then I recommend holding the bobbin with your right hands whilst you pull the thread around to the left with the other the thread should end up in here and it may click slightly as it falls in place personally I recommend picking up the bobbin thread so that it is with the top thread before closing the case so now your machine is threaded you have your top thread and you have your bobbin in so it’s time to start sewing join me in the next video and we’re going to be looking at a basic straight stitch.
