Buying Guide on Best Fertilizer for Plants and Flowers in 2o21
In this buying guide, you will be guided towards the topmost considerable things that are the best fertilizer for plants and flowers. These things are quite essential to be present in your desired product. After all, you cannot risk your garden’s beauty at all.
So, let’s have a look at it.
Get the home kit for the soil test
The first and the foremost thing to do is get the soil test done before purchasing the best fertilizer for plants and flowers. A soil test before the purchase of fertilizer can be really very helpful in choosing the right fertilizer. Well, you can do this test alone at home. You just need to have the home kit yourself.
However, if you don’t find it feasible, you can contact your nearby local extension services to get the test done.
Why get the soil test done?
Before purchasing the fertilizer, getting the soil test done helps determine the soil quality and what it lacks. So, won’t it help acquire a fertilizer if you already know your soil needs and what it doesn’t have?
Now, your job will be made much more straightforward, and you will only have to look for those ingredients in the fertilizer that are not there in your soil.
Therefore, get this step done in the first go. It will not only simplify your work easier but also select the fertilizer for flower seedlings that will be beneficial for your soil and ultimately for your flowers and plants.
Find all the primary ingredients required
A fertilizer is considered to be exemplary only if it possesses all kinds of nutrients. It is an obvious fact that we need fertilizer to put in the lagging nutrients in our soil. After all, we need to make the soil fertile so that the flowers and plants bloom to the fullest. And, your plants will only bloom if they get the right amount of nutrition that they need.
Potassium, nitrogen, and phosphorus are the essential nutrients required by a plant or a flower to grow. Apart from these, there are secondary nutrients too needed. They are further categorized as macronutrients and micronutrients. Nutrients such as calcium, oxygen, carbon, sulfur, and magnesium are the macro ones. While cobalt, copper, iron, manganese, and chlorine are the micronutrients.
Always consider the organic fertilizers
If you need garden fertilizer for your healthy garden, or if your plants do not require pressing plant food, you must go for the organic fertilizer. Organic fertilizers are much better than synthetic or chemical fertilizers.
The organic fertilizers do not harm the seedlings or the roots in any way. Instead, they slowly and gradually are seen improving the quality and form of the soil. They facilitate the growth of microorganisms, which are beneficial for the earth. Even the water holding capacity and nutrient retaining rate of the ground is also enhanced by these fertilizers.
On the other hand, there lie the synthetic fertilizers
‘[They can burn the delicate seedlings, increase the rate of pollution, and make the soil toxic. So, in the end, you know what will happen. All the microorganisms will be destroyed, and new ones will not come to enhance fertility.
Know the soil’s Ph. Value
Apart from the nutrients, a promising Ph. value is also crucial for the remarkable growth of the plants. Well, Ph. Value indicates the level of the acidic and alkaline medium of the soil. Therefore, a proper Ph. level must be maintained after the plant’s death.
However, the normal balanced Ph. value is 6.0 – 7.0. On the contrary, if you wish to raise the Ph. level, the two things can work. They are lime and wood ash. But, avoid using sulfur anyhow. This can reduce the Ph. Level to a great extent.
So, we would advise you to find the soil’s Ph. Level and then get the right fertilizer for garden.
Check for the ratio
The ratio of the necessary nutrients in the fertilizer plays a vital role in improving or disrupting the quality of the soil. The rate has to be according to the quality of the earth. The fertilizer should not be such which has an excess of one of the nutrients while deficiency of the others. The most perfect fertilizer ratio that is considered is 5-5-5. It means that there should be an equal ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. So, be aware of this while making a purchase of your fertilizer.
Consider the prices
In the end, a budget is an essential factor that has been considered while purchasing anything and everything. The same goes while making the purchase of the fertilizers. You must check the prices, analyze the worth by checking the quality, and then make a purchase. You should not just go and buy fertilizer by looking at its hyped brand. You must also not think that if fertilizer is costly, then that would be the best one. No! This is not the reality. Sometimes some not so hyped and cheap fertilizers also work well. If you can get something which works the best at a little lower price, then why spend more on the same thing? So, make a wise choice.

Love miracle grow products. I used this one on many different plants, Rose’s, flowers, ferns, bell pepper plants, sunflowers and tomato plants, succulents and my lawn grass. Seems like everything was having a hard time so I decided to spruce them all up with a drink of this stuff. Here it is 2 weeks and 4 days later, and all my plants are very happy and fed. I love this particular miracle gro water soluble all purpose plant food because I have a watering can that I can just put in the scoop and go (scoop is included). It came in one container, but there are 4 small bags inside (I’m sure this will last me over a year of regular 2 week interval feedings. (The recommended feeding is every 7-14 days. Be careful to level measure, as you wouldnt want to nutrient burn your plants.)
The organic flower fertilizer has never failed me. I got this on a free trial, however if I were to buy it, the price listed is fair. This size is convenient. We do raised bed gardening of vegetables, with fairly densely packed spacing. Dry fertilizer would be difficult to use once foliage gets on the plant. Miracle-Gro is convenient, as it can be mixed in a watering can and then showered over the plants. There is no doubt we get bigger, healthier plants with it.
I have several empty gallon jugs which I add water to, then 3 small spoonfuls to and keep for what I think is a more productive usage of this great flower tone organic fertilizer. Instead of wasting so much in peripheral spraying (the grass and weeds love this stuff too), I pour what I want to EXACTLY in the immediate area of the roots. Let me tell you, THIS STUFF WORKS!!! You will see improvement of your flowers, etc. or you must be trying to grow things on concrete!!! (chuckle)

I used these for my potted Meyer lemon tree that I had neglected to fertilize for atleast 9 months. It was starting to drop leaves and looked sad. I placed 3 spikes in the pot, and within 24 hours it started to perk up. 48 hours later the leaves returned to their usual dark green color and the tree just looks much happier. My bag arrived with all spikes fully intact, and actually contained 7 spikes so I got a free one.
Good fertilizer, only thing I used the jobes organic tomato fertilizer on my container tomato 🍅🍅🍅this year, lots of flowers, big beautiful bushy plants. 😁My first tomato of the year is almost ready to be picked 👍🏼 And the hot Cayenne Pepper keeps producing and putting out new flower, the Pepper looks unrealistically beautiful !!!! 🌶 🌶🌶 I only put 3-4 capsules for each plant. And the pics r my results so far. A little expensive if you put 8 capsules following the package instruction. But really good fertilizer ✌️️I’m going to try the 18 spikes pack next time!
4. Jack’s Classic All Purpose Water Soluble Plant Food– (Best all purpose fertilizer)
Jack’s Classic All Purpose 20-20-20 Water Soluble Plant Food works effectively with its formula on plants. It is like a magic product for the plants. It is because the plant’s growth is fostered by using this product.
This fertilizer for flowering plants is quite advantageous for the plants. By using this fertilizer, the leaves of your plants will green up more and will look healthier. If leaves are greener, it automatically makes your plant look healthy and beautiful. Pale and yellow leaves give an unhealthy vision to the plants. It also facilitates a reasonable expansion rate of the plant. The roots and shoots of the plants are also assisted in their growth by using this.
Well, this all purpose fertilizer has been created for both indoor and outdoor plants. This means that not only shrubs but this fertilizer also works on a variety of trees and other massive plants. After all, it has many beneficial nutrients such as copper, chelated iron, chelated manganese, and many more.

- It is easy to be fed through the roots and leaves if the plants.
- As this all purpose organic fertilizer contains the essential nutrients, nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus, which adds the most to its nutritional quantity.
- Doesn’t let the leaves and stem turn pale.
I actually bought The jacks all purpose fertilizer because I needed a 20 20 20 fertilizer with micronutrients. I’ve been seeing hydroponics videos on my Youtube feed about it and getting interested. I read that 20 20 20 plus epsom salt with micronutrients can be used for hydroponics. But after reading more about it there seems to be better ones out there for hydro… after using this, I can see noticeable results on my citrus trees and some flowering plants. So Ill just use this as my indoor plants regular watering routine with the 1/4 t/gal.
The all purpose plant fertilizer was recommended by an orchid grower. Its formulation is not typical for orchids, but I have used it successfully for them as well as for my oversized collection of houseplants. I use a weak solution each time I water, as the orchid grower advised. Jack’s is not easily found at retail stores, so I was happy to get it here. The large size will last a while, even given my household forest.
I have used this product for years and, if I wonder away from it, always return. For beginning gardeners and “house plant people,” I can only say it is so much better than products that substitute a large ad budget for product quality. I keep some mixed in a bottle for whenever I see a plant “lookin’ peeked” and use the best fertilizer for container plants regularly over the winter to keep my sunroom plants thriving. It’s worth every penny it costs and that price is for something that will last a long while.

More water, less water, more sun, less sun, new pot, different windows, etc. When it started losing its color, I finally consulted my dad. My dad is a former NASA cell biologist and works with plants and builds aquariums. This is the ONLY fertilizer he recommends. Within a day or two, my plant got its color back, perked straight up and has been growing like crazy ever since. Don’t hesitate to buy!
I was super nervous as someone starting a garden. I was honestly scared and thinking, I can NOT do this. But this Osmocote vegetable fertilizer takes out a lot of the side guessing, guess work. It’s freakin amazing, everything I placed this food on, came to life, the other veggie seeds I didn’t place it on, there was a difference, I actually need to order more, because I did run out just recently. This along with pruning and adding low dose aspirin where neeed. It’s all coming together nicely. For the money, totally worth it, I found the same bottle in a local store that was around 13.oo, which was like wow…
I purchased this brand as it was highly recommended by my local nursery for use on Meyer’s lemon trees. The price at the nursery was double that of Amazon. I have used the Osmocote fertilizer on all my outdoor plants and you can see a visible difference! My Meyer’s lemon had dropped all it’s leaves this spring before I got it moved outdoors for the season. A week after feeding according to the package directions I can see lots of new leaf growth!!
The photos I added are exactly as taken off my camera and not color enhanced or altered except for cropping.

FAQs Best Fertilizers for Plants and Flowers
Are fertilizers harmful to human health?
To answer this question, firstly, we would clarify that there are two types of fertilizers –Organic Fertilizers and Synthetic Fertilizers. Organic fertilizers have been created using natural plants like decayed plants and animals, which help to provide essential nutrients and help in producing more. Since they have been made using wild things, they are not harmful to touch or skin. Now, of course, if you swallow stale food like fish.
It will be detrimental. But the chemical fertilizers are synthesized chemically with unnatural products. They can be a little dangerous for your skin and, of course, should not be swallowed. They can cause reactions like allergy on the skin or redness or itchiness. However, it is not possible with every fertilizer. It also depends on the quality of the fertilizer that you are using. Use a good quality fertilizer with proper usage as directed and use precautions like wearing gloves, etc.
When should I fertilize my plants – at what day time?
Plants are said to have a life too. They are delicate and sensitive. So, any reaction done to them can be highly sensitive and give unwanted results as well. Fertilizer is like medicines for plants. We are advised to have medication at a particular time only by our doctors, similar is the case with plants. Plants should never ever be fertilized during mid-day or during the time when the sun is at its highest peak.
When there is too much heat, the plant's actions are at the highest level at that time. Their energy is also being absorbed by the sun; their moisture content also falls down during that time. Thus, if they are given fertilizer at the time, it will not yield the best results. So, the best time to fertilize the plants will be at dawn or dusk when there is no high heat of the sun.
What is a slow-release fertilizer?
A slow-release type of fertilizer is the one that is generally formulated by organic products. Though some of them have also been layered with use of chemical fertilizers. These fertilizers yield in their results slowly depending upon the environmental conditions like air, the temperature of the surrounding, rain, etc. It means that the nutrients are released at a slower rate by them.
They have many advantages like they release slower, that is why they last more longer. They provide the nutrients in a natural form without going against the law of nature. The plants become greener and healthier by their usage. They have very few risks of burning the plants and are safe for the environment as well. They are not even required to be watered, unlike the other ones.
Why is potassium included in the fertilizers?
As we are aware that potassium is one of the three primary ingredients of fertilizer. It is significant for plants in many ways. Potassium is required by the plants to enhance their resistance against drought. It facilitates the opening and closing of stomata. The enzyme activities have occurred in the presence of potassium. Potassium is mandatory in plants for the easy passage of water, carbohydrates.
and nutrients in the plants and flowers. The cellulose in plants can be formed during the presence of potassium. Moreover, it helps in reducing the rate of respiration in plants, which saves the energy of the plants. If the required amount of organic potassium fertilizer is not there in plants, the growth of plants will reduce.
After how long of fertilizing should the plants be watered?
It will be useful to water the plants or flowers as soon as you have finished spreading the fertilizer. There are certain fertilizers, including ammonia and urea, and work only when water is mixed with them. They have been specially formulated in a way so that they dissolve in water. Otherwise, also they are water-soluble. But if not possible immediately you can wait for specific hours, but it should not exceed more than 24 hours. Otherwise, it can lead to many issues.
What do those numbers indicate on the package of fertilizers?
Those numbers on the packet of fertilizers indicate the Nitrogen – Phosphorus – Potassiumratio. These three are the three primary nutrients that are present in each and every fertilizer. They are a standard mark on a fertilizer. That is why they are labelled on top of the pack of the fertilizers.
How to make organic fertilizer for plants & flowers?
Hello, my names Katie Rushworth. Today I am going to show you how to make fertilizer from nettles. Now nettles have a terrible reputation of being incredibly invasive and things that nobody wants in their garden, however, they can be really beneficial. You can’t use them in the compost because they will spread that around your garden to feed your plants, you will also get lots of nettles coming up everywhere. You can make liquid fertilizer out of them, and that is what we are going to do today.
Now I have picked all of these nettles and in spring the new growth is excellent for this. But first I need to chop them up a little bit smaller to aid the decomposition of them. To do that I am going to be brutal and use a spade. Now so far I haven’t been stung but we have a little way to go yet. So we have to bruise the stems and the leaves as much as possible and that will just speed the whole process along. You can also use comfrey to do this. Comfrey is an excellent liquid fertilizer but I want one that is high in nitrogen. Because nitrogen organic water soluble fertilizer is excellent for foliage plants, leafy vegetables need high nitrogen content feeds and this is going to give us that.
I think that is about it. Now I am going to use this lidded bucket, you can use anything but a lid will help enormously because unfortunately, this is quite a smelly job. You know that the fertilizer is ready when it smells terrible. Right now this has that fresh green smell now I have chopped it all up a bit like a freshly cut lawn. I am going to pack them down and then I have some rainwater which I am going to just cover the leaves with. This will be wonderful fertilizer for things like evergreen shrubs, lettuce, cabbage, anything that is grown for its foliage.
I think we are just about there. OK. And now I am going to give them just a little bit of a push down again into the soluble tomato fertilizer, submerge them fully and then pop a lid on. And that wants to be left somewhere away from the house so you can’t smell it and nowhere too sunny. Now, this has been here for about 4 weeks, and I am really quite excited to see what is in it. Well it is definitely potent, and it is definitely green. Look at that! It looks amazing, full of good stuff. Now I need to drain, sieve all those leftover bits of nettle out. So to do that I have a sieve, and I am just going to pour this through here. OK. Fortunately, because of the weight of the foliage, it all tends to be staying at the bottom anyway. OK, I will just utilise this stick and try and clear the mesh from the bottom of the sieve.
I used to this kind of thing when I was a kid, making potions, that is what it feels like. You could also use this as a foliar feed. SO if you wanted to put it into a spray bottle and spray the foliage of things that would also work wonderfully. And to put this on to my plants and feed with my best fertilizer for container plants I will actually be diluting it, one part nettle feed to ten parts water. But it is a brilliant accelerator for your compost. So if you wanted to put some of this neat undiluted fertilizer directly onto your compost it would really accelerate the decomposition process and give it a real boost. I think we are almost there.
OK. Now, where did my, oh it is there, and there we have it! So I am going to take one pot of this, dilute by ten and feed my vegetables! Free fertilizer made from nettles wonderful stuff! For more how-to videos visit Silverlinetools.com.
Rooting Petunia Cuttings and Comparing Fertilize?
Alright, guys so today is April fit and in this video we’re gonna have some fun so I got a comment on that last fertilizer video I did maybe a month month and a half ago and this video is gonna be an answer to that comment we’re gonna take some petunia cuttings we’re gonna get those little cuttings rooted and then we’re gonna take all those cuttings and compare different fertilizers and see which one works the best in the end now before we get started I want to make a quick.
Announcement real quick my wife has just started a channel she’s been posting a few videos I know some of you or not all of you but some of you on here are asking we want to see more of your wife we want to see more of your kids we want to see more of what’s going on around your place well she’s making videos about that kind of stuff and things that she’s interested in so if any of you guys are interested in going over and checking that out I’ll have a link in the description down below I’ll put a card up in the corner here if I can figure that out.
Anyway if you want to check that out go check it out now so back to the video I am actually like a month and a half after this is the end I’ve already done this whole experiment and here’s the result this is what one of them turned out like and it’s a little bit of a secret I’m not gonna tell you exactly which fertilizer made these results it might shock you but I’m doing several different things here isn’t that beautiful those Reds in that petunia so we’re gonna compare five different cuttings with different fertilizers for each one.
And what those are gonna consist of are one cutting gonna get nothing just plain best liquid fertilizer for plants one cutting is gonna get nothing but Miracle Grow another one’s gonna get just the mother plant part a and B that I showed you in that video another one gonna get my mix of everything and then one with just Epsom salt and we’re gonna so what I do here is taken clones of the exact same plant so that we know we’re gonna get identical clones we know we’re gonna get the same plants with the same genetic potential so that the only variable is the fertilizer we’ve got the same soil the same everything we’re gonna see once and for all which fertilizer is the best the reason I’m doing this video is that I got comment after making that specific fertilizer video like a month and a half ago and here it is it comes from.
A chicken 5,000 I would really like to see a side-by-side comparison of two of the same type and size plants where you fertilize one plant but not the other that to me would sell me on the fertilizer well I’ll take that bet any day of the week so even without doing this video I’m pretty assured that the one that gets the fertilizer is gonna do a lot better than the one that doesn’t get the fertilizer but I’ve decided to take it a step further and this is a lot of work trying to parse out all these different fertilizers but we’re gonna see exactly which fertilizer works the best and how they do individually so let’s get started now.
We’re gonna head over actually we got to take a trip back in time let’s get in the Kim K time machine and do it we’re gonna go back and we’re gonna take a bunch of cuttings of this one particular petunia and we’re gonna get all these started and then get this project on the road let’s go alright so we’re starting out here with our little pot with our soil in it and I’m getting everything moistened I’m setting it down in my propagation tote now I’m gonna take some cuttings and if you’ve been watching my petunia videos through the winter then you know I’ve got a whole bunch of petunias in that one gallon pot.
They keep growing and then I cut them back and they grow and I cut them back now what I want to do is take all of these cuttings from one particular plant in that pot and that was the red petunia and the reason is I want to make sure that we’re getting exact genetic clones of one plant so that all of these little clones have the same genetic potential that way when we get ready for the experiment with the fertilizer we’re gonna have all the same genetic.
Potential with each of these cuttings then we’re gonna have a real scientific experiment going on here now I’m just finishing getting everything all set here and all these little cuttings in place and then the final thing I want to do is cover it I’m using saran wrap here because that’s what I’ve got it just lets some light in but maintains plenty of humidity throughout this little tote aren’t those cute little cuttings sitting in there and they’re little place now I want to label of course you.
When you stuck these and then a month later here we are we’ve got all of our little clones all routed up so I stuck six of them total and look at those little roots just filled out there beautifully looks like five of them rooted really well and you know every once in a while we don’t get one to root but you know that’s nature so on to the next thing now I’m getting all my little cups filled with soil so I’ve labelled each individual Cup with the different types of fertilizer or components of the fertilizer.
That I’m going to use so that I can keep everything straight here I’m getting all these guys potted up the soil I’m going with is the HP promix now that’s just some peat moss and some perlite all mixed up together I bought that at a local fish fertilizer for garden centre getting all these guys set up now there are guys are in Dixie Cups just so you’re aware of that and I did cut holes in the bottom because I know I’m gonna get that question all right so now we’ve got all of our little petunia cuttings potted up.
And I’ve labelled each Cup so we’ve got one little control here where we’ve got no fertilizer at all then we’ve got one with just Epsom salt and I mixed one teaspoon of Epsom salt to one gallon of water and there is the brand I used it was just bought at the grocery store then we’ve got one with just Miracle Grow and there’s The Miracle Grow right there mixed up how they recommend one I think it’s a quarter teaspoon per gallon of water.
And then one with just the mother plant and there’s the mother plant mixed up with one tablespoon of each of those parts Part A and B in one gallon of water just like they recommend and then we’ve got one of Mike’s mix and that is the fertilizer where I made the video previously and I showed you guys how I water my houseplants so I’ve got a link to that up in the corner or down in the description below if you want to check that one out so we’ve got them all set out here and we’re gonna find out once and for all which fertilizer does the best or if a combination of fertilizers does better or if we even need any fertilizer at all right.
So today is March 20th so this is what we’ve got going on with our little experiment now I’ve got these guys all lined out and just so that you’re aware I didn’t water them until two days ago since the first watering went ahead two days ago and you know these guys were just little cuttings so they weren’t really soaking up much moisture took all that time for them to dry these pots out I went ahead mixed everything up again the way it should be and then watered accordingly to the labels there and it’s kind of interesting to see what we’ve got here so far so all of them look healthy at this point.
And I you know anticipated that they would look healthy to this point but what I think we’re gonna see is the difference is starting to emerge in these guys as the growth forms more and more all right so let’s do a little quick update on these little petunia cuttings get them under the light a little better there so it’s March 24th today just a few days I think since that last little clip and I’m already starting to see just an explosion of growth on some of them and others are lagging behind its kind of interesting to see how this is working out there’s the comparison at this point anything gets pretty interesting what’s happening.
So we’ll come back and show you more as time goes by all right so here we are just a couple of days later and you can see they’re starting to flower out now I just want to show you this real quick because they’re starting to kind of pull away from each other in differences it’s starting to become more and more evident more noticeable they’re all blooming beautifully I mean absolutely gorgeous red flowers every one of these was a clone off of the red that was in this little bunch of petunias right here after trimming this back you can see all those new Leafs starting to leaf out right there.
It’s looking good but I’m really curious to see here what happens over the next couple days because everything’s happening faster and faster this one right here with the Epsom salt is starting to lag a little bit more this one with nothing is still hanging in there but and it’s even kind of bloom that’s just starting to open up here probably by tomorrow but they’re not doing too much they’re kind of lagging behind these other ones and it’s just interesting this miracle-gro growing better stalks but the leaves aren’t as deep of green but they’ve got lots of buds coming out then you’ve got the one with the full mix here.
Lots of green we’ve got lots of buds starting to come out one of the blooms already but the stalks are shorter kinds of interesting then we’ve got the mother plant stalks are shorter but not as forward comes the leaves anyway want to show you guys that in a few days here actually a week here I don’t know whenever it happens I just want to see how long it’s gonna take here these guys are really starting to pull away from each other in differences I’ll come back when there’s something to show you until then here we go alright so here we are guys.
I think we’ve just about proven our point here we’ve gotten these little petunias to grow on as much as they’re gonna grow and they’ve kind of separated out we’ve got quite a few differences between all of these to let’s take all of this outside under some natural light and see exactly what we’ve got alright so I really enjoyed making this one doing this little experiment are you guys ready to see the final results let’s take a look so let’s see what we’ve got here, first of all, you notice these blooms are absolutely gorgeous I’m so glad I did this experiment with the red flowers because they are beautiful that was the comment I got a real experiment on your fertilizer.
On how well it does would be your fertilizer versus nothing being done and there’s the comparison I mean it just doesn’t compare now this little guy took off he rooted and he started growing he’s got lots of roots down in there but you can see the plant it’s just you know it’s got a nitrogen deficiency it’s got all kinds of inefficiencies there’s nothing in it but it didn’t bloom it put on some beautiful little blooms I don’t know where this will go from here because these are beautiful and this guy is a clone same way this guy’s a clone of the mother red and so this has all the potential this one has I’m gonna start fertilizing this and get it up to par with this guy because I want to give him to my wife but you can see the.
The comparison now here’s my mixture of fertilizer in that video I showed you before go click on the link in the description if you want to see it but isn’t that just absolutely gorgeous look at that another little bloom coming out another little bloomer blooms all over that’s gonna be a flower look at this thing absolutely gorgeous now let’s do some comparisons here so if we go back here.
Let’s start with nothing obviously, this guy didn’t do too spectacular putting on some blooms this do something but it didn’t do too spectacular there but then we got just Epsom salt and that’s all I put a teaspoon of Epsom salt in one gallon of water soluble fertilizer and it did pretty much the same as the one that absolutely nothing was put in it but just plain water it’s got about the same number of buds actually maybe it’s got a few fewer buds and that might be because there’s just too much salt in here and it’s just hampering the roots ability to absorb whatever is in there that it could get that it does need.
I don’t know but they pretty well compared as equals the one that has just Epsom salt and the one that has nothing now let’s take a look here at the Miracle Grow so we’ve got nothing versus Miracle Grow and you can see in fact we know what the nothing looks like let’s get that out of here let’s compare it to mother plants so this was just the mother plant so it’s real low nitrogen all the nutrients were low in this particular fertilizer it’s really meant to just keep plants alive through the winter but you can see the leaves grew just big and beautiful and lush compared to the Miracle Grow.
Now the Miracle Grow grew taller stalks it’s got more stalks look like more flowers more little terminal buds here creating flowers at the top but the leaves are a little smaller not quite as lush they’re green but they’re not as big and bold and beautiful it the Miracle Grow really encouraged those stalks to grow well lots of root growth as well plenty of root growth with the Miracle Grow we’ve got plenty with the mother plant actually if I turn around we got even more.
So the root growth is pretty comparable but that’s mother plant versus just the Miracle Grow and now for the grand finale and I’m not trying to toot my own horn here but you know if I don’t anybody else is gonna do it for me but there’s my fertilizer and what I came up with this get these guys out of the way when I came up with this I really looked at the formulation of all these individual fertilizers here and that’s how I came up with this and it seemed to work pretty darn well so we’ve got mother plant that’s got more leaf growth shorter squatty or.
Plant nice little blooms several blooms on it coming out looking good it’s doing well then we’ve got the Miracle Grow with not as big leaves but the stalks are doing really well more flower buds and then we’ve got my mixture of the mother plant The Miracle Grow and the Epsom salt in the back over there the combination of them is kind of doing let’s get this back here it’s kind of doing something in between these two so the stalks are a little bit taller then on just the mother plant the leaves are a little bit bigger than on just the Miracle Grow and I’ll tell you guys.
I kind of was hoping that the Miracle Grow would do the best because then I wouldn’t have to go and mix my mix every time I want to fertilize my plants but I’m telling you it just worked it works really well and I think I’m going to continue on with that mixture fertilizer once again if you haven’t seen it go click on the link for that video I’m gonna continue on with this one because look at how beautiful it’s doing tons of flower buds we got one two three another one coming up there four five six seven eight nine ten eleven twelve with 13 we got lots of 14 look at that little trio right there we’ve got lots of flower buds on this beautiful leaf growth beautiful stalks plenty of roots throughout this thing and it’s just growing really beautiful and healthy and you saw these are all clones of the same exact petunia so they all have the same exact genetic potential as each other so there you go, guys.
Mike’s mix turned out to be a beautiful little mixture a beautiful little fertilizer and I’m not saying it’s the only fertilizer that you could use or that you should use what I am saying is that compared to the what that is in this mixture as individual components it worked out absolutely beautiful and I think is a wonderful combination of all of them up there and just produces a wonderfully beautiful little plant with awesome blooms I mean look at that little guy so like I said before I hate to brag about myself but yeah nobody else is gonna do it.
Well anyway I think we’ve brought this one to ahead we’ve come to the end with this I’m going to go ahead and fertilize all of them now with just the regular mix thank God I’m not going to have to mix up all these individual gallons of the stuff to keep this thing going any longer we’ve seen the results so I’m gonna make every one of these equally as beautiful now and then I’m gonna hand them off to my wife and I’m gonna let her plant them right out in front at the front door so I hope you guys enjoyed this video I hope you learned something from this right now today. Have a fantastic week guys oh yeah hit the like button subscribe if you want to follow along and see more awesome plant videos once again have a fantastic week I’ll see you in the next video adios.
How to Fertilize Your Flowers?
Hi I’m Keith with Scheider farms and today we’re going to talk about feeding our plants I know I like to eat and I know that if I go if I miss a meal I get really hungry so our plans are the same or the same way and we all are a little bit different athletes like Michael Phelps need to eat a lot of food and you need frequently people like me maybe you don’t need to eat as often and we probably only maybe more than what we need to but that’s another story today your petunias are the Michael Phelps of the flower world.
And begonias are like me they just kind of sit there when we’re feeding our petunias we want to use a real-life that’s high in high in nitrogen and we want to do it more frequently we’re going to use our proven winner’s water-soluble food for the petunias a day and we want to feed them every week that’s normally it’s just every two weeks a lot of packages but petunias and some of the high feeders we want to use feed every week and we’re going to use a two-gallon watering can just follow the instructions on the pail and we’re adding one skimp per gallon simple.
We’ll add our water it dissolves really easy in this water so it’s very easy to use when we fertilize all we’re really doing is replacing the watering for the day so if it’s we’re going to be doing it try to do it in the morning and just like as we water we’re going to water thoroughly and make sure that when we’re done the basket is heavy we’re going to get a little more. And well-fed either we use a couple of different fertilizers here for our petunias we want to use something with a lot of nitrogen some iron.
and we like these proven winner fertilizers for that for other things like the begonias maybe impatiens geraniums we like nature sources they’re just little different formulations and give the plants what they need another thing that affects how often you want to fertilize is the pot size small pots like hanging baskets need to fertilize more often because we’re putting more water through them and there’s less soil to hold the nutrients big pots that we aren’t watering is often have a lot more sweating a whole lot more nutrients so we may not have to fertilize those quite as well so remember if you feed your plants they’ll be fabulous thanks for watching and we’ll see you in the next video.
