Hey everybody Tyler here boulevard home I’m here with Lindsay she is our resident expert in all things cooking and what we’re going to do today is try to conquer that age-old question of which mixer is better the Kitchenaid or the bosch so how are we going to do that we’re going to take five metrics that we’re going to compare and hopefully that gives you as as a consumer a better idea of which mixer will be best for you as you are looking at making your purchase so what five things are we going to cover today Lindsay so we’ve got probably one of the best ones is your size capacity.

You know if you’ve got a smaller family larger family things you’re going to be mixing with it price point definitely a big one there we have attachments right some people love their attachments what attachments go with each type of mixer right and motor so the strength of each mixer they are different so something also to consider when you’re looking at purchasing one and finally possibly the style that you’re looking for what looks best what works best for you and what options there are for that to compare these five things today we’re going to make cookies I’ve got the Kitchenaid here the attachment on this one is just our dough paddle.

Which is just a single paddle works great and the comparison to that on the bosch is with all bosch attachments you get two paddles versus the one paddle and these ones are metal obviously so you don’t want to throw those into the dishwasher or these ones are plastic which can go into a dishwasher if you’re a bread baker this is your dough hook so just very simple in design but does a great job the difference there is here’s the dough hooks on a bosch again there are two arms and then there’s also a scraper which is a really good feature that if you want the dough scraper you actually have to buy a separate attachment for this is none of their attachments.

Actually, come with that um attached on there and attachments we’re talking about they are the standard attachments that usually come with right with the mixer and then you’ve got your whisk attachment which again is just your single attachment it’s just the wire whisk and the bosch is again is two-wire whisk instead of the one so those are the differences on the standard attachments that come with the bosch mixer or the KitchenAid mixer and then standard to the bosch is also um the dough scraper is standard and here’s the dough scraper.

And the dough scraper can go on most of all the attachments which help scrape the bowl uh automatically right and that’s something that is an extra with your Kitchenaid so the second thing we want to compare today is the personalization that KitchenAid and bosch have so let’s first talk Kitchenaid so KitchenAid comes standard with your metal bowl but you can get a glass bowl option which is a really nice feature it’s more of a cosmetic feature just for the looks for you having out onto your countertop there really isn’t a cooking benefit having opposed to the glass to the metal you have the dough shield.

That again is another attachment that some of the models you know you can get with it’s great because it comes standard with the bosch and then I think the biggest thing is your color options which multiple colors on this is the um platinum color but they’ve got from all your primary colors your blues your blacks your whites reds um pastel colors so if if you need a color you want to color your option is KitchenAid right because with bosch the colors you have are you see here white or the only other really personalization option you have with the bosch mixer.

Are you can change the bolt to a metal bowl but outside of additional attachments those areas that’s as personalized you can make a bosch mixer versus Kitchenaid many options right I think another thing to point out too with the KitchenAid um so your surround and basic components are all metal whereas the bosch you know is plastic so that’s just another option I think with some people prefer the look of this opposed to maybe the bosch or vice versa they prefer the look and a lot of times people do feel you know mixers are heavy um but when they have large loads they’re moving around one thing that the bosch does have is on the bottom they actually.

Have suction cups so that’s something different so to cover the next three areas that we wanted to compare the bosch mixer to the Kitchenaid mixer we’re going to jump in and start making some cookies just to begin with because the bosch mixer comes with a larger size capacity bowl we’re gonna do a double batch of cookies here versus a single batch here in the KitchenAid mixer so let’s jump into it awesome we’ve got the sugar brown and white and the butter and this is something that we have to mix for three to five minutes we’re actually going to go five minutes on these so we’re gonna get these started and then we can compare how each mixer mixes it all up in a minute so we’ve made it through the first section of the recipe which.

Called for harder butter right not melted butter and Ghee, yeah and a couple of things we found which was interesting is the bosch mixer first off as we used harder butter the cake paddles wouldn’t mix them very well yeah that was a challenge it was it was pushing them around whereas the cake paddle on the or the dough hooks on the Kitchenaid makes that a lot better, to begin with, yeah this did a lot better but it didn’t get it however right once we once the butter was was kind of mixed in what we found is the bosch mixer ended up creaming it much better so after we’ve mixed in all the flour we’re comparing the different consistencies of the dough.

And you can see there is a difference this is the bosch dough which looks a little fluffier and it’s a double batch there’s a double batch and I’ve got the single batch in the Kitchenaid and this is a dense dough but you can see how just the bosch seems to have mixed it a lot creamier I think a better consistency than what I’ve got for this recipe out of the Kitchenaid so now we’re going to start adding chocolate chips, yeah and as you can see the size of the bowls are not much different in size this is a 5.5 quart this is a 6 quart but you’ll see this one has handled the larger capacity much better than the Kitchenaid has yeah for this recipe the bowl size could.

Have handled it but the machine itself with the smaller motor would not have been able to blend into the power through it like right like the bosch has so as we saw the two mixers mixing with this being a double recipe that being a single recipe, uh we heard the KitchenAid struggling a little bit it did it came out it worked fine right it worked yeah however the bosch with the double recipe it just powered through it and struggled even less than the KitchenAid on one right and if this was all you had and just doing simple everyday recipes I mean it would work awesome for you but I think you’ve got the upper hand on this one with with a nicer mix.

I think it’s just the person who made them but that’s okay keep thinking so as you can see we’ve got our finished product here and both of the cookies look delicious and amazing so obviously both mixers can do an amazing job a great job in summary we’ve we compared the bosch mixer to the kitchen Kitchenaid mixer the five items which were power which was the size which was price attachments and uh personalization right those were the five things and overall if we just compare all those let’s first summarize quickly which one uh ended up performing better for each category so first off-price I think value for money hands down the bosch.

Okay, so value for the money hands down if you get the same attachment same power here however if you’re on a budget KitchenAid does offer options that are cheaper and give you some options there if you need to do okay power and size I think both go here right with without a doubt uh comes standard with 800 watts versus the KitchenAid this one similar site is 450 so almost half the power and it showed definitely in the mixing that definitely did a better job and then personalization we lean Kitchenaid absolutely if you want a color for your kitchen you want it to match glass bowl option um definitely and I think visually you know.

Out on your counter this has a little smarter look yeah than more of a designer look it does sophisticated look yeah and then last off uh is accessories uh overall accessories they come standard with similar accessories bosch however we feel like it has that leg up just a little bit because they offer more options everywhere from the blender option to even ice cream maker food processor so overall our recommendation if you’re looking for a good food processor or a food mixer, uh we’re we would recommend the bosch if you can get both there’s value to both but if you were looking for one we recommend the bosch mixer Lindsay’s already focused on the cooking.

How to make Whole Wheat Bread using a stand mixer?

Hello today we are making whole-wheat bread the first thing we’re going to do is add 5 cups of fresh ground whole wheat flour 1 tablespoon of sea salt 2 tablespoons of instant dry yeast and 6 tablespoons of sugar which can be substituted for honey and stuff but we’re for consistency we’re doing sugar today okay and then we’re going to put it down and this is my cookie hook on my stand mixer so whatever you have that’s equivalent to that and then we mix it for just a minute just to get it all mixed together and I’m going to raise it again now we are going to add 5 cups of water that is either 110 degrees or you can barely keep your finger in it for about 10 seconds that’s about the same thing so we’re going to slowly add that we’re going to slowly add the water.

Until it is all mixed in and I like to set my mixture as low as a stand mixer as low as it’ll go so that I don’t end up with flour all over the kitchen early added in and it’s going to get pretty slimy we’re going to have more flour later I’ll let it go for about a minute just to get fully incorporated okay now we are going to slowly add the other five cups of flour that are in the recipe we don’t necessarily use it all this is it’s the art of it you got to see what your flour does put a little bit inlet it incorporate it now I turn it up now that there’s not tons of water okay it’s starting to stick together.

A little bit more I’m still gonna have one more Cup what we’re looking for with the cookie hook is all of it kind of coming off the sides or as much as your mixer can handle you do it with a 50 hook until it just can’t handle anymore you know it’s starting to stay together and not okay that looks pretty good sticking together mostly coming off the side now we are going to swap out the hooks now we’re going to use our bread hook you have to use a bread hook to make bread because you have to get the gluten moving in it this rips it apart too much the cookie.

Hook does for it to work properly in the end so we’re going to pull off our cookie hook and this is an important thing you do have to start with the cookie hook or you will be very frustrated so now we’re going to put in our bread hook and watch how the bread hook moves it around differently and then we’re going to add the last little bit of our flour maybe not all of it but until it sees now it’s not pulling off the sides or anything so you down and at this point, we only add a little bit at a time it’s starting to work out movement they’re starting from off the sides.

A little but I still see the flower for you once all the flour is incorporated then I add a little bit more and the bread happens when it pulls everything off the sides when it starts pulling everything away sticks to itself not the stand mixer but holy bread it’s really important that it’s pretty going by the time you’re done so you want it to barely be keeping off the sides because it will absorb the rest of the moisture in the rising tell the flower is gone but it’s still it still needs a little bit more some more sorrow see how it’s coming off the sides it’s all sticking together really well you could stop here and let it rise and it’ll probably work.

I’m gonna add just a little bit more flour because I saw it at the bottom it’s sticking just a little bit that was maybe a table okay see how it’s all moving around staying off I’m gonna turn it off oops lift it up and then I’m gonna flip my dough just because just in case there’s something some dry flour on the bottom and see there’s nothing down there but see how sticky that is so it needs just a little bit more flour but we could stop there and it would be okay it’s better with whole-wheat flour to have this to wet then to have it to dry I’ll make your bricks.

Or paper okay so about a tablespoon again amazing how slowly you have to add okay see how clean let’s go on here this bit down that’s perfect so I’m going to shut it off and now we’re going to move it into another container okay now we’re going to remove our bread from our Bowl you can actually leave it in there and just let it rise you don’t even have to take the hook off of it if you don’t want to but for a visual or what we try to achieve we’re going to dump it into a clear container first we need to spray the container with spray oil so that the dough doesn’t stick too much makes cleanup later a lot easier then we’re going to dump our get all of our double to go in there then I kind of Pat it down just to get it kind of even and then we use tape we stick it on the side.

I like to stick it on the side about where it’s at which is about three quarts on my container so that marks where it was and then it’s really important that your bread at least doubles in size it can go bigger than that is just fine just don’t leave it for more than probably I think it’s an hour so then if that’s three quarts down here then at six quarts is where it’s going to be double in size so I know that that’s when I need to knead it down again.

Then I put a spray lid on top of it because sometimes it rises really fast and actually hits the top so we’re going to set that aside and we’ll be back when it’s done okay our bread has risen now it’s falling so we’re going to put it in the back into the mixer the reason I put it back into the stand mixer is that when you make bread when the yeast activates in the bread it all has a tendency to all the air in it clumps together.

So you’ll end up with big air bubbles here and there but not all evenly distributed so you need it back down punch it down and think you’re ready you’ll get bricks we need to need it back down I like to put it back in here anybody who has muscles can do it by hand if they want to so I’m going to put my bread hook back in there down and let it run for about two minutes actually not one minute it just needs to run from it not okay now you can either put it back in your container and let it do a second rise which makes usually a lighter fluffier dough.

Or it still turns out okay if you’re short on time take this right here and make it into bread or rolls and let it rise on the cupboard a little bit before you bake it in the oven at 410 degrees for rolls it’s about 25 minutes in my oven and about 30 minutes for a small over bread.
